Canelli Moscato 2024

750ml

Sale price$27.25

Made from 100% Muscat à Petits Grains grown on certified-organic, steep south-southeast-facing slopes in Canelli — the historic birthplace of Moscato d'Asti — Bera's Moscato is a benchmark expression of the appellation. The Bera family has been estate-bottling Moscato since 1964 and were instrumental in establishing the elevated Canelli DOCG designation. Pale straw yellow in the glass, the wine opens with an elegant and expressive nose of white peach, fresh grape, and citrus zest, layered with white flowers, orange blossom, and a subtle mineral undercurrent that speaks to the wine's calcareous hillside origins. On the palate, it is delicate — sweet, but never cloying — with a lively acidity and savory texture that provide remarkable balance and lift. The finish is long, fragrant, and refreshing, with a persistent floral and fruity echo. This is Moscato at its most serious and compelling.

Bera

Nestled on the steep, sun-drenched hillsides of Canelli in the Piedmont region of Italy, Bera Vittorio & Figli has been a family winery for nearly three centuries. The estate was first acquired in 1758 by founding ancestor Giovanni Battista Bera in the Serra Masio area — the historic heart of Moscato production — and has remained in the family ever since, now tended by siblings Gianluigi, Alessandra, and Vittoria. Spanning 12 hectares of organically certified vineyards, the estate's chalky, limestone-rich soils and southeast-facing slopes, with gradients between 40-70%, create ideal conditions for their signature Moscato, as well as a thoughtful range of other varietals. Every aspect of viticulture is carried out by hand — from manual farming and harvesting in small crates to a deep respect for the surrounding landscape — reflecting a philosophy rooted in the land itself. As the family puts it, they are people of the vine, with roots planted in these hills for centuries, and they believe that wine resembles the people who make it.
