Paolo Bea

"Vigneto Pipparello" 2018

  • Organic

Located on a hilltop in Montefalco at 1300 feet above sea level, the Pipparello vineyard’s vines are a minimum of 20 years old. A blend of 60% Sangiovese, 25% Montepulciano, and 15% Sagrantino, the varietals are harvested in the middle of October and macerated for 40-50 days. The wine spends a year in stainless steel tanks, two years in large oak barrels, and an additional year of bottle-aging. All of this results in a beautiful wine full of mouthwatering notes of red and black fruits, loamy earthiness, and baking spice.

Paolo Bea

Bea produces perhaps his most renowned wine from pure Sagrantino grown on the prized hilltop site of Pagliaro. The Bea family is one of the most noteworthy names in the Sagrantino di Montefalco DOCG and their family approach to winemaking can be described as traditional and non-interventionalist.
