'Hi Kite' SLO Coast Syrah-Grenache 2023

750ml

Sale price$43.75

Rachel and Tyler Eck are guided by the wild beauty of the coastal dunes and the free-spirited legacy of the Dunites. The result: wines that are pure, elegant, and deeply rooted in place — shaped by vineyards planted on uplifted seafloor and ancient sand dunes along the SLO Coast. This blend of Syrah and Grenache comes from Hi Kite, their estate vineyard — named for the pair of white-tailed kites they greeted with a "hi" each morning. The Syrah brings juicy blue fruit, damp earth, and delicate floral notes, while the Grenache adds red plum richness and a lush mid-palate brightness that lifts the Syrah's deeper character. Firm but refined tannins and crisp coastal acidity finish the glass beautifully. Pairs with stews, grilled meats and vegetables, or black bean burgers.

Dunites Wine Co.

Dunites Wine Company is named after an eclectic group of 1930s metropolitan refugees known as the Dunites who settled in the beach dunes of San Luis Obispo county. This group proudly described themselves as a collection of free thinkers and artists who shared meals, cohabited a mutual gathering space, philosophized, dissented, and generally allowed one another to live and express themselves freely outside of the cultural norms of the time. Drawing inspiration for this project from the remote beauty of the coastal dunes and the progressive ambition of the Dunites of old, Dunites Wine Co. aspires towards a clear goal; to produce pure and elegant wines that respect the coastal influence of vineyard sites located on the uplifted seafloor and ancient sand dunes of the SLO Coast. Combining diverse vineyard sites with traditional techniques in the cellar allow for these small production wines to express the distinct characteristics of their sites. They are also members of 1% for the Planet, an association of small businesses that donate 1% of their revenues to efforts that protect and restore our natural environment.
