'Santa Lusa' Romagna Albana Secco 2022

750ml

Sale price$26.50

This elegant and dry orange wine hails from the soft rolling hills of Torre dell’Oriolo, near the town of Faenza. Light amber in the glass, the wine is produced from sustainably farmed and hand-harvested Albana, and opens with ripe notes of stone fruit and honeysuckle. On the palate, the wine is fresh with light, food-friendly tannins—the result of one week’s maceration on skins — and notes of honeyed apricot, and peach. Try this one with creamy seafood pasta, white meats, and aged, or semi-hard cheeses, such as Asiago or Pecorino.

Ancarani

Tending the vineyards planted by his grandfather, Claudio Ancarani is now at the helm of this small winery located in Torre dell’Oriolo on the soft rolling hills that turn into the mountains of the Tuscan-Emilian Appennines near the town of Faenza. The estate comprises 10 hectares of vines. Claudio is proudly championing the re-discovery of the local indigenous varietals: Centesimino, Uva Longanesi, Famoso and Albana. Claudio applies natural vineyard management promoting biodiversity in his land, no herbicides and only copper and sulfur. He believes in winemaking with minimal intervention, he uses indigenous yeast, no new oak and adds close to zero sulfites.
