Passiflora Pinot Noir 2022

750ml

Sale price$98.00

Grown at the highest elevation of Antiquum’s Pinot Noir site, Passiflora’s free spirit carves a path defying traditional notions of what Pinot Noir can be. Lithe and vibrant, solidly juicy yet ethereal, the wine opens with heady notes of cherry blossoms, violets and wildflowers, interwoven with notes of warm, spiced hot chocolate. On the palate, this wine is stunningly elegant, filled with notes of pomegranate, raspberry, and a hint of passionfruit.

Antiquum Farm

The Willamette Valley is known for wines and winemakers that innovate in the industry. Antiquum Farm, founded and farmed by Stephen Hagen, is no exception. This visionary farm is home to a new method of winegrowing, Grazing Based Viticulture, a term coined by farmer and owner Stephen Hagen. This innovative approach combines viticulture, animal husbandry, and regenerative agriculture. Hagen believes farming, in its best form, may evolve into art and shine light on some of the best attributes of humankind: kindness, empathy, creativity, duty, and patience. Perched at 800 feet above sea level, it is nearly at the edge of what is considered a growable elevation for pinot noir in the Willamette Valley. Despite this elevation, the slope seems to collect and amplify heat during the day and cool at night, yielding wines with bright acidity and complex fruit. The soils are cultivated in the tradition of pre-1940s agriculture. No outside fertilizers, synthetic or otherwise, are used and all wines are vegan. The vineyard floor is intensively managed for abundant life. This means letting the wild in, while contributing species enhance vine health, insect habitat and diversity.
