Macallan Double Cask 12Yr Single Malt Scotch
Every so often, it pays to return to the basics. Few in the spirit world can even dream of attempting to offer a portfolio as deep and varied as The Macallan. This 12-year-old non-peated single malt from the Speyside region of Scotland sips cleanly while also featuring additional maturation in sherry casks. Deep amber in the glass with strong legs. Oaky and hot right off the pour. Prominent oak and perfume reads as somewhat bitter at first, with notes reminiscent of an amaretto sour and a hint of spiced plums. The nose softens dramatically after a few minutes, settling into dark sherry and plum sweetness.
Founded In 1824 The Macallan was one of the first distillers in Scotland to be legally licensed. Since then we have built a reputation as one of the world’s leading single malt whiskies. The creation of The Macallan draws on the vital contributing influences of Spain, North America and Scotland - and of their respective natural raw materials, combined with traditional methods and craftsmanship.
