Les Heretiques' Pays d'Herault 2023
750ml
This red wine from Languedoc takes its name from the Cathars, a local heretical group who resisted rigid Christian dogma in the 13th century. This wine is similarly rebellious with an unconventional blend of 50% Syrah, 20% Carignan, 20% Grenache, and 10% Cinsault. The Carignan and Cinsault go through a full carbonic maceration, while the Grenache and Syrah are destemmed and macerated for 21-30 days in concrete tanks. The result is a medium-bodied red wine bursting with notes of lush blueberries, blackberries, and dark plums, backed by hints of earth and spice. A wine with rustic charm, it pairs wonderfully with grilled lamb, pizza, brisket, and hard cheeses.
