Le Puy Barthelemy 2016

750ml

Sale price$350.00

Made from 100% Merlot, this wine is aged for two years in used barrels, following the lunar cycle. This wine is named after one of the most illustrious winemakers in the Amoreau family, Barthélemy (1844-1925), who bequeathed his notebooks to the estate, where he questioned the use of sulphur in the vinification process. Following Barthélemy’s theory, the wine is made without any added sulphur and is unfiltered. A deep purple in color, the wine offers delicate aromas of undergrowth and mushrooms that lead into a rich and complex palate, with a deep yet silky structure, and notes of black cherry and crisp blackberries. This red wine is an absolute stunner alongside grilled meat, a leg of lamb, monkfish with mushrooms, and Peking duck.

Chateau Le Puy

Château Le Puy has been in continuous operation by the Amoreau family since 1610, with the 15th generation of winemakers currently working at the estate. Unmatched in terms of lineage, purity, and conviction, Château Le Puy, located just east of Saint-Emilion, is a part of Bordeaux history and continues to honor traditional farming and winemaking. Their wines showcase the terroir, a link to history, and integrity to the process and soil. Today, Château Le Puy is led by Jean-Pierre Amoreau, who, along with his son Pascal and daughter Valérie, carries forward a winemaking tradition that not only eschews intervention but also disregards trends, critics, and apparently, time itself.
