Jacquere Vin des Allobroges IGP Blanc 2024

750ml

Sale price$20.00

Chrystele and Philippe Demeure-Pinet are among the last remaining vignerons in their tiny alpine village of Saint Genix-sur-Guiers, farming just 8.5 hectares of limestone-clay hillside in the “avant-pays” area of Savoie. Their crisply delicious Jacquère is everything this mountain grape promises: pale and crystalline in the glass, with lifted aromas of acacia blossom, green apple, lemon zest, and cool wet slate. Fermented cold in stainless steel and rested on its lees through winter before an early spring bottling, the palate is light-bodied and fresh, with notes of citrus, apple, and a clean mineral finish. It works equally well as an aperitif or alongside fish or even oysters.

Domaine Demeure-Pinet

Domaine Demeure-Pinet is located at the confluence of three regions: the Rhone Valley to the west, Jura to the north and Savoie to the east. The domaine is located in the “avant pays” of the Savoie region, in the town of Saint Genix-sur-Guiers, about half way between Lyon and Chambery. Although their region was once widely planted with vines, today Chrystele and Philippe Demeure-Pinet are the only local wine growers in their tiny village. The vineyards are at 225m above sea level and stretch across 8.5 hectares on south-facing slopes with limestone-clay soils. About 70% of the domaine is dedicated to white grapes, almost all of it Jacquere. The domaine follows lutte raisonnée vineyards practices and all Demeure-Pinet wines are estate-bottled.
