100% Syrah Cuvée from the vineyards of the Seyssuel hillsides, on the left bank north of Vienne. This very old Roman vineyard, which disappeared at the end of the 19th century, was replanted in 1996. Aged for 18 months in barrels, the resulting wine is purple in color with aromas of ripe black fruit and spicy, bacon-like notes. The palate is delicate, silky, and underscored by a beautiful minerality. This wine can be enjoyed within 3-4 years and can be cellared for up to 10 years. Pair it with a tender yet robust meat such as duck breast.

Yves Cuilleron

The Cuilleron estate, located in Verlieu, a hamlet of Chavanay just south of Condrieu, is one of the benchmark producers of the Rhone. Yves Cuilleron makes an assortment of wines from multiple appellations, including Condrieu, Saint Péray, Crozes-Hermitage, Saint Joseph, Cote Rotie, and Vin de Pays from the Collines Rhodaniennes. Cuilleron has been described by the wine press as "the leader of Condrieu's new generation of winemakers” and his wines straddle the divide between traditionalists and the new-wave, in the sense that they retain their sense of place, but express their sites in an approachable, immediate way, with purity, precision, grace, and joy.
