Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2024
750ml
Sourced from an iron-rich, sandy clay plot near the famed Château Rayas that's been planted since the 14th century — this is Julien Barrot's passion project, 15 years in the making. Pale yellow with silver highlights, it opens up with a fresh, inviting nose of white flowers, fennel, star anise, and subtle spice. The palate is silky and elegant without being heavy, with a lovely mineral crispness and real energy that carries all the way through to a long, lively finish. Aged 15 months in demi-muids on its lees, it hits that sweet spot between finesse and freshness that's so hard to nail in a southern Rhône white. With 2024 shaping up as a standout vintage for whites in the region, this should be a particularly bright and lifted bottling — pop it in a decanter for a few minutes before serving and watch it really come alive.
