Chateau Jarr Bordeaux Blanc 2024

750ml

Sale price$17.25

Located about 60 km from the city of Bordeaux, in the famed Entre-Deux-Mers region, Château Jarr became one of France's pioneering organic wine estates in the early 1960s. That dedication to sustainability and craft is evident in every sip of this delicately fruit- and floral-driven white. A blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, and Semillon, the wine is bright pale yellow in the glass with a bouquet of apple, Asian pear, and white flowers. The palate is light, fresh, and supple, with the fruit balanced by excellent, lingering minerality. This is a thirst-quencher for sure, and perfect with seafood and salads.

Chateau Jarr

Located in Bordeaux's Entre-Deux-Mers region, Château Jarr became one of France's pioneering organic wine estates under former owner Paul Bouron. In the early 1960s, while suffering from tuberculosis, Bouron adopted the Lemaire-Boucher method of organic farming in an effort to heal himself — and made a full recovery. In 1964, he co-founded Nature et Progrès, the first association dedicated to promoting organic and biodynamic practices. Today, the estate is run by Gérard Lobre, whose family has been involved in Bordeaux winemaking since 1734. Its 32 hectares sit between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, 60 kilometres from Bordeaux — 28 planted with red varietals (Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Petit Verdot) and 4 with whites (Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Sauvignon Gris).
