Chateau d'Issan

Blason d'Issan Margaux 2017

750ml
$52

Blason d’Issan is the second label wine of Chateau d’Issan, a legendary Grand Cru Bordeaux estate in Margaux, first classified in 1855.  A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, this wine was first introduced nearly 20 years ago, in 1995. The grapes are hand-harvested from the estate’s youngest vines to ensure vitality and freshness, allowing the complex terroir or Margaux to shine through with every sip. Effortless, elegant, and yet structured, the wine features notes of ripe raspberry, cherry, blackcurrant, graphite, all backed silky tannins and balanced acidity. This wine is just starting to enter its prime time, drink now alongside lamb shanks, ribeye, and hearty game, or cellar for up to 10 years.

Chateau d'Issan

The history of Château d’Issan dates back to the 12th century, when wines from this prestigious estate were said to have been served at the wedding of Henry Plantagenet, future king of England, and Eleanor of Acquitaine. Classified as a Third Growth Bordeaux estate in the famous Napoleonic classification of 1855, the estate continues to live up to its prestigious pedigree. The vines are carefully tended using sustainable farming practices and all grapes are hand harvested and hand sorted to preserve the distinctive characteristics of every unique plot in this storied vineyard.
