Chateau Guipiere
Founded in 1842 in Vallet, just southeast of Nantes, Château Guipière is a 28-hectare estate focused on cultivating the two mainstay grapes of the region, the Melon de Bourgogne which is bottled under its much more well-known AOP Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine, and Gros Plant (a.k.a. Folle Blanche). In 2015, the estate was purchased by Philippe Nevoux who, with the help of vineyard manager and cellarmaster Stéphane Gouraud, converted the winery to HVE3 certification by committing to biodiversity conservation, managed fertilizer use, eco-friendly plant protection, and water management. In 2024, the estate will produce its first certified organic harvest. Nevoux has also encouraged the bottling of single-vineyard cuvees to highlight the truly exceptional and distinctive terroirs of the property, and of Muscadet, this section of the Loire Valley at large.
