Description

Produced from 100% Maria Gomes (aka Fernão Pires) grown in a single vineyard and using the Champagne method, this is not your conventional pet nat, and that’s the point. This orange sparkler is inspired by the same spirit of skillful inquiry and innovation that informs the wines of the Pato family. Unfined and filtered, the wine offers notes of lemon curd, ripe pear, ginger, papaya, and mango flecked with sea salt and just a bit of funk for a good time! Try it with something spicy or your favorite semi-firm cheese.

Mariana Pato, the daughter of famed Portuguese winemaker Luis Pato, created The Duckman project because of her love of the region and varietals, so much so that she felt constrained by conventional Bairrada winemaking. The Duckman wines express the true character of Bairrada’s indigenous varietals and its exceptional maritime influence. There are no indications of the region on the labels, done intentionally to demonstrate an acute sense of place and varietal typicity through minimal intervention in the cellar.
