High Country™ American Single Malt


Calling all single malt lovers! As admirers of the famed single malt whiskies of Scotland, High West wanted to create a uniquely crafted version of American single malt. Made in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah, High Country™ American Single Malt is distilled “on-the-grain” to provide the robust, flavor-forward profile more typical of American whiskeys and High West’s style. This means that they leave the grain in during fermentation and distillation, instead of filtering it out. In the tradition of American and Scottish whiskey making, they use both freshly charred and second-use oak barrels during the maturation stage. These techniques produce a whiskey that shows its distinctive and delicious American qualities with a heavier mouthfeel, roasted malt character, and balanced complexity. High Country™ American Single Malt is best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water while appreciating a magnificent western vista.

High West Distillery

Like many new spirits companies, High West Distillery does not distill its own whiskies. The lengthy barrel aging required to produce a nuanced whiskey is a luxury most upstarts don't have: time is money. However, while most of these negociant brands either usurp an old brand's history or fabricate their own fanciful heritage, High West stands apart for its transparency, and excels at sourcing and blending some interesting barrels for some equally interesting bottlings.
