Côteaux du Giennois, a small appellation in the Loire Valley, about 50 km north of Pouilly Fumé is the home of this soft, elegant and focused Sauvignon Blanc made from organically farmed grapes. On the nose, notes of tangerine, grapefruit and lemon, with a subtle background of lilies and elderberries. Vibrant citrus comes forward on the palate, balanced and elegant through to the lengthy, mineral-driven finish. Try this one with pan-roasted salmon or an appetizer of fresh cantaloupe wrapped with prosciutto.

Christophe Monget

The Côteaux du Giennois is a small appellation just north of Pouilly Fumé on the way to Auxerre, producing tiny quantities of wine across its 200 hectares of clay-limestone terrain. Here, Christophe Monget and his cousin manage 23 hectares of family vineyards that were once planted with grains and occupied by cattle. With a passion for wine and polycultural farming, the family dedicated their entire property and historic 300 year old stone barns to viticulture and winemaking. The domaine is committed to natural farming methods and is a proud member of Terra Vitis, a group who eschews the use of chemical agents in favor of biological methods.
