Karim Vionnet is an underrated superhero of Beaujolais. A former baker, Karim worked under Guy Breton—member of the famed Beaujolais "Gang of Four," along with Marcel Lapierre, Jean Folliard and Jean-Paul Thevenet— for 5 years before establishing his own domain in 2006 his hometown of Villie-Morgon. From his 5ha domain, Karim’s aim has always been to "make a wine that is simple and natural." Today, he works with his daughter, avoiding unnecessary intervention in the vineyard and during fermentation in producing high-quality and terroir-driven wines, such as this silky smooth, bright, and festive Beaujolais Nouveau. The wine is filled with notes of wild red and black berries, plums, and currants, baking spice, thyme, fennel fronds, and forest floor.
