Description

This wine, produced from sustainably farmed, pre-phylloxera vineyards in the heart of Rueda, takes its name — “El Portalon” or “Big Door Vineyard” from the vineyard from which its grapes are sourced (years ago, the vineyard’s entrance was a large stone doorway.) Fermented in steel and aged for 3 months before bottling, the finished wine is fresh and expressive, with notes of citrus, hay, fennel, and tropical fruits. Lush and silky on the palate, this is a great partner for spicy shrimp, tapas, and picnics with friends.

Bodegas Cerrosol is a family owned winery located in the heart of the Rueda appellation in Santiuste de San Juan Bautista, around Segovia; this area is considered to be the best in the Castille y Leon DO. Its 100 hectares planted to incredibly rare sandy, pre-phylloxera soils, are sustainably farmed by the Vegas-Cordobés family, producing wines with minimal intervention on the cellar. Located 830m-910m above sea level, the wines here are incredibly fresh, highly expressive of the terroir and complex.
