Marziano Abbona

Papa Celso Dogliani 2023

750 ml
$22

Marziano Abbona’s flagship wine, Papà Celso is a single-vineyard Dolcetto that is dedicated to the memory of Celso Abbona, father of Marziano, who planted every vine in the Doriolo vineyard. The wine is exclusively produced with grapes grown on vines over 60 years old that give the wine a pleasant balance between elegance, power, and harmony. Rich and structured with aromas of red and black fruits, this is a balanced and harmonious red, fermented in steel to preserve freshness and purity. Refreshing and subtly grippy, it’s an age worthy gem and excellent partner for fresh pasta with homemade ragù, white meats, and medium-aged cheeses.

Marziano Abbona

The history of the Abbona winery is full of hard work and challenges, but also loyalty to tradition and passion for experimentation. At the heart of the story are the hills of the Langhe and hard work in the vineyards, but also the territory of Dogliani and one of its most extraordinary products: Dolcetto. The winery was founded in the early 20th century by Celso Abbona and his son Marziano. Celso Abbona was among the first of his generation to believe in the potential of Dogliani and its territory and to valorize the grape variety that its hills can fully express: Dolcetto. Together with his family, Celso planted the legendary vineyard Bricco Doriolo, located in Santa Lucia di Dogliani. Today, this vineyard not only embodies the historical memory of the company, but it represents one of the most prestigious single vineyards of Dogliani. Today, the winery is managed by Marziano and Enrico Abbona, with the help of Chiara, Marziano’s youngest daughter, and continues its work investing in the territory and vintes of Dogliani.
