Michael Fürst operates his small family estate in Sauer Valley, one of the area’s last surviving wineries. The Fürst family has grown grapes and other crops at their estate since the 13th century, and Michael is the third generation to make wine under the family name. From his rolling slopes of limestone, he offers a slew of light-bodied, fun-spirited whites and reds. While he produces enthralling Sauvignon Blancs, the main focus is on the historic Elbling grape, a great old Germanic variety once planted more widely than Riesling in Germany.
