Cantina di Sorbara

Omaggio a Gino Friedmann NV

750ml
$16.50

Founded in 1923, Cantina di Sorbara is a pioneering cooperative representing Lambrusco DOC. Member growers, which hail from Modena, Reggio Emilia, Mantova and the area surrounding Bologna, are dedicated to producing pure, beautiful expressions of Lambrusco, such as this brut rosé lambrusco. Dedicated to the memory of Gino Friedmann, an Italian Jew who helped rescue dozens of children during WWII before turning his attention to growing and making Lambrusco, it opens with stunning notes of white pear, pink and purple flowers, that blossom into ripe raspberry and cherry. Crisp and subtle on the palate, this bubbly is pure satisfaction.

Cantina di Sorbara

Cantina di Sorbara’s cooperative was founded in 2012 with the merger of two historic companies on the Modena wine scene. The Carpi Winery, which was founded in 1903 and a pioneering example of agricultural cooperation, and the Sorbara Winery, the name that quintessentially identifies Lambrusco DOC. Comprised of more than 1,200 member growers, the cooperative dedicates much of its work to the pioneering and caring spirit of co-founder Gino Friedmann, an Italian Jew who helped dozens of children escape persecution during WWII before turning his attention to winemaking in Lambrusco.
