Along the northern tip of the Sierra Foothills, Gideon Beinstock produces some of the most unique and exciting small batch wines in California using organic farming and minimal intervention in the cellar. At the much heralded Renaissance Winery, where Beinstock was the winemaker for 16 years, he produced uniquely focused, ageworthy, and mineral-driven wines that reflect the rocky terroir of the North Yuba Foothills. At Clos Saron, the vineyard he founded with his partner Saron Rice, his focus is on boldly fascinating reds and whites that represent California winemaking at its finest. The Taken from Granite wines were produced by Beinstock during his time at Renaissance, renown for their complexity, and bottled only when Beinstock feels they are ready to showcase their radiant nerve and energy.
