Schlossgobelsburg is one of the oldest wineries in the Austrian Danube, an area dating back to 1171! Today the vineyard is still making quintessential, classic expressions of Austrian wine.The monks of the Zwettl Monastery, who managed the winery until 1995, used organic fertiliser, abstained from employing herbicides, and aimed to reduce the use of plant protectants and that reverence for the land still endures at the winery today. Located on slopes and terraces around the valley of the river Kamp, the Kamptal comes from younger vineyards (under 20 years) and utilizes grapes from both the lower and upper parts of the valley. The lower altitude grapes provide maturity and the higher provide freshness.
