Marchesi Incisa

Leopoldo Pinot Nero 2019

750 ml
$29

This Pinot Noir is a standout in Piemonte, a region most known for it’s regal Nebbiolos. Rustic and textured, aromas of pomegranate, chocolate, and wild berries are present, which shapeshift into flavors of cherry, blueberry, warm spice, and fresh tobacco, structured with fine tannins and balance. A fine example of what Pinot Noir can do in Piemonte, the wine is named “Leopoldo” as an homage to Leopoldo Incisa, who originally bought Pinot Noir clippings from his travels in Burgundy more than 150 years ago. Enjoy now with fish, shellfish, and aged cheeses, or save for up to five years.

Marchesi Incisa Della Rocchetta

Now run by siblings, Filiberto and Francesca, the Incisa family has roots in Piemonte dating back to the 1400s. In the 1850s, Leopoldo Incisa came back from his journeys in France with clones of Pinot Noir & Merlot, becoming the first to plant them in the vineyards of Piemonte. Based in the town of Monferrato, the family winery today focuses on indigenous varietals and showcasing the beauty and fantastic terroir of Monferrato and greater Piemonte.
