Melgaço is the original home of the Alvarinho grape. The most northern region of Portugal, Melgaço is sheltered by surrounding mountains that create a perfect balance of rainfall, temperature, and sunshine — exactly what's needed for Alvarinho to reach its potential. This is where Quinta do Regueiro produces Foral Alvarinho. Founded in 1988, and located in Côto, Alvaredo, Melgaço, this family company took its first steps with the plantation of the first 3 hectares of 100% Alvarinho vines. Today the company stretches across 12 hectares of vineyards and produced 170,000 bottles for the national and international markets.
