We’re thrilled to introduce our first white wine offering from Rosi Schuster, one of our all-time faves here at Greene Grape. This easygoing organic blend is from the villages — literally aus den Dörfern — surrounding Burgenland’s Ruster Berg, where mineral-rich gneiss, schist, limestone, and sand soils give rise to magnificent vines. Produced from two-thirds of Gruner Veltliner with the remainder a Gemischter Satz (or field blend) of Welschriesling, Furmint, Weissburgunder, and Gelber Muskateller, this wine offers an exceptional texture and layers of lemon zest, green apple, poached pear, and bright mineral undertones. Drink now alongside pork, salads, and even fruit-filled pastries.

Although the estate still bears the name of his winemaker mother, Rosi, Weingut Rosi Schuster has been managed by her son and current winemaker, Hannes Schuster, since 2007. Garnering international attention and multiple accolades, these beautiful and elegant reflections of Austrian native varieties continue to charm critics and consumers alike vintage after vintage. Hannes has taken his family estate to a new level with his commitment to organic farming, a nurturing approach in the vineyard and a minimalist ideology in the cellar. Since his first release, he has embraced gentle and natural winemaking, utilizing spontaneous fermentation, long lees aging and low amounts of sulphur. Sankt Laurent and Blaufrankisch to be the best expression of his vineyards. The two red grapes now comprise 75% of production and come from an array of amazing sites and soil types ranging from heavy loam to sandstone, gravel and limestone and are spread across 40 small parcels within six villages - Sankt Margarethen, Zagersdorf, Oslip, Schutzen Am Gebirge, Donnerskirchen and Mullendorf.
