Pierre Sparr
In 1680, Jean Sparr founded the Sparr family winery in the Alsace village of Sigolsheim. Over the next few centuries, the Sparr family worked the land, maintaining and expanding their estate, making sure every decision aligns with their philosophy: “the quality of a fine wine already exists in the grape.” Pierre Sparr took over the winery in the early 20th century and soon after became one of the pioneers of estate bottling in Alsace. Following devastation of World War II, Pierre rebuilt the family domaine, taking equal care in rebuilding the integrity of the local soils. Today, the ninth generation of Sparrs is at the helm of this historic domaine, managing the estate, which now extends over 15 hectares in the heart of Alsace, and sources fruit from another 130 hectares of local, sustainably managed vineyards. “Excellence without compromise” is the winery’s motto, and the Sparr quest for excellence is never-ending.
