Palazzo Wine
An artist at heart, and a rolling stone by nature, Scott Palazzo’s path to becoming one of the top winemakers in Napa Valley took a few twists and turns. Having grown up in an Italian family, where wine served as as a backdrop for life’s everyday events, meals, and celebrations, Scott first wandered into the small village of Saint Émilion during a backpacking trip to Europe at age 19. In no time, he fell in love with the people, the land, and most of all, the wines. The experience not only shaped his palate, but also planted the seeds of his own winemaking dream. He returned to the States inspired, but unemployed, and he eventually found a successful career as a Grammy Nominated director and producer of TV and music videos.
However, the dream stuck. In 2003, Scott began exploring California’s wine regions in hopes of producing his own beautifully refined, terroir-driven wines like those he had enjoyed Bordeaux. His search led him to the Carneros Appellation in Napa Valley, where the cool, maritime climate and shallow clay soils proved ideal for his venture. With fruit from some of the most celebrated hillside vineyards in Carneros, Scott has realized his dream of producing world-class wines, by combining new world fruit with an old-world sensibility in the cellar. His wines have been embraced by some of most prestigious restaurants, sommeliers, and critics in the country, including Thomas Keller’s The French Laundry, Gary Danko, Michael Mina, Per Se, Daniel, Gramercy Tavern, Eleven Madison Park, Spago, Bouchon, Redd, and Press.
