Intense ruby in the glass, this biodynamic red opens with a burst of ripe blackberries, black currants and red berries, rose petals, and hints of forest undergrowth, and smoke. On the palate, the wine evolves to reveal notes of spice and mocha, framed by refined tannins and mouthwatering freshness that carries through to the lengthy finish. Movia

Located in the village of Ceglo, in the heart of the Brda appellation, close to Italian border, Movia wines are a big contributor to the growth and popularity of Slovenian wine in the global market. Founded in 1820, the winery and estate had grown to become one Europe’s most famous wineries in the years following World War II, and were favorites of celebrities and politicians alike. Today, vision of Movia is led by third-generation winemaker Aleš Kristančič, who is as renowned for his passionate embrace of organic and biodynamic farming practices as he is for his larger-than-life personality and ingenious approach to terroir-driven winemaking. Aleš primarily grows Rebula, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Pinot Noir — all without the use of herbicides, pesticides, or fungicides. The Rebula and Pinot Grigio are generally bottled separately while the Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay are used in blended wines.
