Lyrarakis
Since brothers Manolis and Sotiris Lyrarakis founded their winery on the island of Crete in 1966, the family has been devoted to producing single-variety wines from rare indigenous grapes. Crete brings with it over 4,000 years of winemaking history, and Lyrarakis has honored that legacy by reviving three ancient Cretan varieties: Dafni, Plyto, and Melissaki. Today, the winery is led by the second generation, committed to the same spirit of discovery and stewardship — including a conversion to organic viticulture in 2020, with natural fertilizers produced from organic waste from their kitchen, the winemaking process, and nearby olive oil mills.
