Backsberg Kosher Brut Cap Classique 2018

  • Kosher

This Kosher bubbly is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay produced by the Backsberg Family in South Africa's first carbon-neutral winery. Lively and fresh, with notes of ripe apple, cherry blossom, and brioche, this wine is an homage to the Backsberg family's Jewish heritage, produced under the auspices of the Cape Town Beth Din and the Orthodox Union of the U.S. Mevushal and Kosher for Passover.

Backsberg Family Wines

The Back family business was founded in 1902 by Charles Louis Back – who came to South Africa as a Jewish refugee from Lithuania. From there it was transferred into the hands of Sydney, followed by Michael and his son Simon. In its 106 years, it has been a mixed farming operation – from fruit to grapes and even livestock – but today the focus is on the wine business. Celebrating four generations of family ownership, and several years of quality winemaking, Backsberg Family Wines continues to thrive by honoring the past whilst simultaneously forging ahead with forward-thinking holistic practices.
