Gut Hermannsberg
“Gut Hermannsberg is paradise at the near end of the world,” says Cellar Master Karsten Peter. Indeed, visiting the estate, founded in 1902 as a Royal Prussian Wine Domaine, is like traveling back in time. Located on steep, vine-covered slopes in the wild and beautiful Nahe valley, it’s easy to forget that this estate is located just an hour or so from Frankfurt Airport. Gut Hermannsberg is unique in that its holdings stretch across seven Grosse Lage (Grand Cru) vineyard sites in the villages of Schlossbockelheim, Niederhausen, Altenbamberg and Traisen. Each year, the estate produces about 150,000 bottles world class Rieslings in an array of styles that have garnered praise from critics and consumers alike. Peter, as well as his vineyard and cellar teams, share a philosophy to let the vines express themselves with very little human intervention.
