Single pot still whiskey is a uniquely Irish product, and a century ago, it was the most exported whiskey in the world. In contrast to single malts, single pot still is made from a single mash of both malted and unmalted barley for a wider expression of grain. Green Spot is one of the few whiskey bonder-brands to survive to this day. In 1887 Mitchell & Sons began buying whiskey and aging it in their own casks. Daubs of colored paint were used to mark the age of different batches, and Green Spot emerged as the most popular.
