Four Roses

Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon

750ml
$39

Four Roses dates back to 1888, and is named for the brothers Rufus & Origen Rose and their two sons. They use two mash-bills and five yeast strains to produce ten distinct straight bourbons. This bottling is a marriage of four of these bourbons, aged 5-8 years. After years of success, Four Roses straight bourbon was discontinued stateside in the late fifties, as Americans became obsessed with lighter blended whiskies. The name became attached to a cheap rotgut blend and became tarnished by association. All the while, the straight bourbon was gaining a cult following in Japan, and when Kirin Beer bought the company in 2002, they brought it back to the U.S. market, to the delight of all true bourbon fans. This sipping whiskey is rich with notes of honeyed spice, cinnamon, piney anise, orange peel, baked apples, rye spice & vanilla. If you like Bulleit, give this a try.

Four Roses

It began when Paul Jones, Jr., the founder of Four Roses Bourbon, became smitten by a Southern belle in 1884. It is said that he sent a proposal to her, and she replied that if her answer were “Yes,” she would wear a corsage of roses on her gown to the upcoming grand ball. Paul Jones waited for her answer excitedly on that night of the grand ball…when she arrived in her beautiful gown, she wore a corsage of four red roses. He later named his Bourbon “Four Roses” as a symbol of his devout passion for the lovely belle, a passion he thereafter transferred to making his beloved Four Roses Bourbon.

The people who work at the Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg, KY and at our warehouse facility in Cox’s Creek, KY continue the legacy that began with Paul Jones in 1888. Their passion for quality and pride in handcrafting an award winning Bourbon is evident in the smooth, mellow taste that has become the signature of the Four Roses Brand.
