Domaine des Florets
At the top of the Dentelles de Montmirail, 4 hectares of old vines flourish at an altitude of 500 meters on steep terrain in a magnificent landscape protected by high limestone rocks artistically carved by erosion. These are the vineyards of Domaine des Florets, nestled in a cocoon of greenery on clay-limestone soil facing North-East. Most Gigondas is made from low lying vineyards, but the vines here are very much in the mountains where the cooler, higher altitude location helps preserve the natural freshness of their wines. Jérôme Rathle, who has long experience in sustainable development and environmental protection, took over the Domaine in 2021, and shifted farming to biodynamic and organic farming. Oenologist Olivier Roustang works alongside him as a consultant winemaker.
