Domaine de la Madone
Few estates outside of Beaujolais' band of cru villages craft such character-driven, expressive Gamay as Domaine de la Madone. It is certainly one of the finest values for quality anywhere in the world. But that’s Domaine de la Madone’s secret—their vineyards should be rated Beaujolais cru. Domaine de la Madone is located on the famous hillside of Madone in Fleurie, which receives exceptional sunshine and its soil is made up of pink granite favorable to the Gamay grape variety. This estate has been owned by the Despres family for 6 generations. Brothers Olivier and Bruno Bererd tend almost exclusively to older vines using organic practices.
