Domaine de Ferrand
Located between Orange and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, in the southern Rhone Valley, Domaine de Ferrand is one of THOSE dynamic wineries — little known by general public but whose name has long set the mouths of wine critics and knowledgeable enthusiasts salivating at a mere mention. Helmed by fourth-generation winemaker Philippe Bravay, Domaine de Ferrand extends just about 17 hectares, 7.5 of which are contained in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The origins of the winery date back to the 17th century; indeed, more than 50% of the vines are more than a century old. Bravay practices exclusively organic farming practices, including spontaneous fermentation in cement, and yields are strictly limited. The result are award-winning that Robert M. Parker has called “singular” and “brilliant.” All wines are bottled unfiltered and without preservatives.
