Chateau de la Cormerais
Located south of Nantes, in the western end of the Loire Valley, Chateau de la Cormerais is a former manor of the Middle Ages. In 1856, Thierry Besnard’s family acquired the estate and Thierry settled there as a winemaker in 1993. With 38 hectares, he mainly grows and produces Muscadet Sèvre and Maine, Gros-Plant, Gamay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, Grolleau Noir and Merlot grape varieties. The unique character and rich quality of his wines is due to the terroir which comprises gabbro and gneiss rocks, as well as the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, which gives the wines incomparable freshness.
