A fourth-generation viticulturist born and raised in Cuenca, Spain, Rafael Cañizares founded Bodegas Volver in 2004 with a singular mission: to rescue and revive old vineyards that time had nearly forgotten. Working across the La Mancha and Alicante DOs, he seeks out 30- to 90-year-old vines — many lost to low yields or the absence of an heir — and farms them sustainably with minimal intervention. The result is a collection of wines that are deeply rooted in place, shaped by generations of accumulated knowledge and a profound respect for the land.
