Beyond Distilling Co.
Beyond Distilling is the result of an idea developed by three friends — Tyler LaCorata, Kerianne Krause, and Ryan Sadis: What if they could create a company that would allow them to make spirits they wanted to drink in a truly inclusive workspace that enables everyone to do work they can be proud of?
At the time, Kerianne Krause had been working with adults with disabilities for the better part of a decade, serving the Charleston community since graduating from college in 2013, around the same time she met Tyler, who had been working in the culinary field, and who had fallen head-over-heels in love with craft distilling. Ryan had been introduced to Tyler by a mutual friend when both were living and working on Long Island. They quickly became friends and even roommates as Tyler began teaching him all he could about the spirits industry. It wasn’t until Kerianne approached Tyler and Ryan in 2018 to explore the possibility of an inclusive workforce that would employ adults with developmental disabilities to work in the alcohol industry. It was a notion close to all of them. Along with Tyler and Ryan’s experience distilling spirits and Kerianne’s passion for her work, the three friends agreed to create an inclusive workplace where they would employ adults with disabilities. One of the only distilleries in the country operating with this mission, the workforce at Beyond Distilling is made up of employees with intellectual disabilities.
