In 2001, the Rahmann family bought a modest vineyard in South Africa, and dedicated it to honoring the traditions of the land and its people. They changed the name of the property to Asara in honor of the North African gods of earth, sun and sky—Astar, Asis, and Asase—and to symbolize the balance and harmony of nature reflected in their wines.
