Abbadia Ardenga

Abbadia Ardenga

Abbadia Ardenga, a winery which is part of the history of Brunello di Montalcino, is extremely special and definitely worth visiting, not only for its products but also for its outstanding charm. The estate has a very long history, having once belonged to the powerful Piccolomini family, whose members included Pope Pius II, responsible for the construction of the town of Pienza, a masterpiece of the Renaissance.

The Estate is made up of two separate nuclei in the municipality of Montalcino, occupying a total of 650 hectares. Just ten have been reserved for the vineyards. Abbadia Ardenga dedicates all their efforts to the cultivation of just one grape variety, Sangiovese, which is used to produce 40,000 bottles a year, subdivided into Brunello di Montalcino DOCG (Brunello di M. Vigna), Rosso di Montalcino DOC (Sangiovese Grosso) and Ardengo Rosso IGT (bright red Sangiovese).
