Domaine Sauger
Cheverny is a relatively young appellation (established in 1993), but Domaine Sauger has been dedicated to the vine in the Loire Valley’s Central Vineyards for generations. Situated on the left bank of the Loire River, at the heart of Loir-et-Cher and bordered by the national forest of La Sologne, the estate extends over 30 hectares of sandy clay soils. Founded in 1870, the domaine is today headed by fifth-generation vigneron Philippe Sauger and practices sustainable viticulture. Indeed, the winery’s motto is “love and respect for nature” About 70% of vines are dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, with the remainder planted to Pinot Noir, Gamay, and Côt (Malbec).
