Segonzac Cotes de Blaye VV 2018750 ml
A regal purple in the glass, this critically acclaimed charmer made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec is just entering its prime. It’s structured and firm, with heft and smooth, dense tannins that accentuate the bright red fruit, vanilla, spice and coffee notes. Drink now with a host of cheeses and roasted meats, or hold through 2034.
Founded in the late 19th century by Jean Dupuy, then French Minister of Agriculture, Chateau Segonzac covers a little over 43 ha on a sunny hillside which directly overlooks the Gironde River. This bucolic setting, as well as the rich clay and limestone subsoil, is home to lovely and elegant red wines.
