Serbian winemaker Ernő Sagmeister began producing wine full-time in 2008, while previously he had only made wine for himself and his friends. After falling in love with the district of the National Park, Fruška Gora, in Srem he planted his first vineyards there. The rest is delectable history, translated in this fun, full-bodied, and richly textured dry Furmint with notes of quince, cotton candy, pear, bruised apple skin, white flowers and lemon peel finish. This is a killer aperitif, and a great partner for chicken, pork, and veggie entrees. Organic and biodynamic.

Sagmeister

Born in Subotica (Serbia) from a Hungarian family, Ernő Sagmeister began producing wine full time in 2008, while previously he had only made wine for himself and his friends. After following in love with the district of the National Park Fruška Gora in Srem he planted his first vineyards there.  Ernő strongly believes in ancient methods of cultivation, and in maintaining the soil’s fertility through natural methods such as green manure. The estate promotes indigenous herbs and plants (which often annually vary) to grow on their own, with the clear intent to help nature along rather than attempting to control it. No chemicals are used at all in the vineyard with just sulfur, copper, and plant-based biodynamic preparations sprayer according to the lunar calendar.
