In 1999, La Livinière (meaning “place planted with vines”), located in the heart of the Minervois between Toulouse and Montpellier, became the first vineyard to receive recognition in the Languedoc region. It’s the home of Château Maris, which would convert to biodynamic farming just two years later, becoming one of the first area growers to do so. This elegant, approachable red blend tells the chateau’s story in this plush, juicy blend of Syrah and Merlot. Unfined, unfiltered, and bottled without added sulphur, the wine offers notes of rich plum, blackberry, and pink flowers, balanced by subtle spice and forest herbs. Recently hailed as a great value by The New York Times' Eric Asimov, this red is a great match for roasted root vegetables, grilled hanger steak with mushrooms, and a host of Mediterranean dishes.

Chateau Maris

Chateau Maris is the first European vineyard to obtain B Corporation® certification, a label recognized by the UN and the European Commission. B Corporation certification promotes companies that transform their business into a virtuous force for good: good for workers, good for communities and good for the environment.

Located on the foothills of the Black Mountains near Carcassonne, where the Mediterranean Sea, France, Spain, and the Pyrenees mountain range come together, the chateau’s limestone terraces facing the Aude river valley are perfectly suited for growing world-class Syrah and Grenache. Preciously crafted by winemaker Robert Eden, Maris offers great value wines made with organic grapes. Robert Eden is a recognized authority on Organic and Biodynamic viticulture, giving lectures on the need to reduce the negative impact on the environment from non-sustainable farming.
