Cardamaro’s aroma is strong and complex, with notes of gentian root, sage, dried fruits, and spice backed by ginger. On the palate is a delicious balance of sweet and bitter notes, with herbs and spice lingering throughout.  The only amaro made with the Nizza Monferrato “Hunchback” cardoon, an artichoke thistle. This is a gorgeous amaro to enjoy in a negroni, a sweet martini, or over ice with tonic.

Cardamaro

Cardamaro comes from the Bosca family, who has been producing wine and amaro since 1820 in Piemonte. In the 1950s, Rachele Torlasco Bosca, a scholar and herbalist, became fascinated with the beneficial qualities of many wild plants, and spent her life in the search of the perfect amaro based on herbs, which contained the quality to invigorate the body and spirit. Over the following years, Bosca’s herbalists perfected the recipe, incorporating 23 additional botanicals on a base of local wine.
