Schlesselman blended Turkish rhubarb with a unique blend of herbs and spices, including cardamom, chamomile, and orange peel to create Amaro Mysteriosa. Van Brunt Stillhouse is a New York State Farm Distillery in the heart of Red Hook Brooklyn. While the idea of a farm distillery in a big city seems somewhat ironic, Van Brunt takes their license class to heart, thinking of themselves as an extension of Thor Oeschner's organic farm near Ithaca, the primary source for the grains used in Van Brunt’s award-winning spirits. Helmed by master distiller Daric Schlesselman, Van Brunt believes in the strength and value of local economies, eschewing the use of “commodity corn,” in favor of grains grown without chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or GMOs.
