Chateau Les Barraillots

Chateau Les Barraillots Margaux 2018

750ml
$40

This is what we in the business like to call a steal! Gorgeous, absolutely classic Cru Artisan Margaux that can stand up to just about any Grand Cru Classe, at a fraction of the price. A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot, with 15% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, this red shows singular finesse with its bouquet of red cherries, plum blossoms, brambly strawberry accented by notes of tobacco, spice, and dried rose. The wine is full bodied, yet soft, with ample refinement and complexity. Pair your favorite hearty dish or creamy cheese with this one.

Chateau Les Barraillots

Located on one of the highest sites in Margaux, Chateau Les Barraillots was founded in the 1930s by Ferdinand Brunet, a cooper at the legendary Chateau Margaux, with just a few vines from Châteaus Palmer and Durfort. Years later, under the hand of Ferdinand’s grandson Yannick, the chateau is the last small and independent wine producer in the village of Margaux and one of only a few “Crus Artisans” estates — a classification for small to medium-sized, independently owned wineries in the Médoc — within the Margaux appellation. Vines at Chateau Les Barraillots are on average 40 years old, and are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. No chemicals are used in the vineyard and harvesting is done manually.
